20-year-old man stabbed to death in Kumasi over plastic chair dispute
In Ashanti New Town, Kumasi, a 20-year-old named Kwadwo Bright met a tragic end when he was fatally stabbed, reportedly over a dispute involving a plastic chair.
According to accounts from eyewitnesses, the incident took place in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025. What began as a verbal disagreement between Kwadwo and a friend, now suspected to be the perpetrator, rapidly escalated into a violent encounter.
The altercation reportedly started at a snooker game center, where both young men laid claim to the same chair. Although the initial conflict seemed to have been settled, the suspect later tracked down Kwadwo and stabbed him in the neck.
Georgina Yeboah, Kwadwo’s mother, shared her heart-wrenching experience with the media, recalling the moment she was alerted to the tragedy. “The sound of people shouting about a young man being stabbed brought me running to the scene, where I discovered my son in critical condition. Even though the dispute was supposedly resolved, the suspect returned and stabbed Kwadwo in the neck, leading to his death this morning,” she recounted.

Kwadwo was quickly taken to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, but despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The police have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident, but investigations are actively underway to locate and apprehend the suspect.
