OSP Declares Former Finance Ministry Technical Advisor Wanted Over GRA–SML Corruption Probe

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared Ernest Darko Akore, a former Technical Advisor (Chef-de-Cabinet) at the Ministry of Finance, a wanted man in connection with ongoing investigations into suspected corruption related to the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

The OSP, in a public notice issued on Wednesday, July 16, announced that an arrest warrant had been secured from the High Court (Criminal Division) in the case titled Republic v. Ernest Darko Akore (CR/0397/2025).

According to the OSP, Mr. Akore, 67, is being sought for his alleged role in corruption and corruption-related offences uncovered during a probe into the GRA–SML agreement. He served in a senior advisory role at the Finance Ministry during the period under investigation.

The OSP stated that all attempts to reach Mr. Akore have proven futile, prompting the issuance of the warrant and his official classification as a wanted person. Authorities believe he may have left Ghana and could be hiding in the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, or South Africa.

A detailed physical description was provided to aid in his identification: Mr. Akore is described as having brown skin, black hair, and brown eyes. He is not known to have any distinguishing marks.

The public has been urged to assist in locating him by contacting the Ghana Police Service or the OSP directly through WhatsApp hotlines 055-449-4499 and 055-448-4488.
