Mamponteng Chief Sues Prophet Roja, Angel FM, and Presenter for Doom Prophecy, Seeks GH¢10 Million in Damages
Barimah Saasi Ayeboafo II, the Chief of Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region, has initiated legal action against Pastor Samuel Henry, widely known as Prophet Roja, who founded Roja City International Church. The lawsuit centers on a prophecy claiming the chief’s death and the collapse of other chiefs under his authority. According to a report by dialyguidenetwork.com, the suit also targets Angel Broadcasting Network and Ali Baba Dankambary, a presenter at Angel FM, who hosted the show where the prophecy was aired.
The chief, through his lead counsel Yaw Acheampong Boafo of Gye Nyame Chambers, has filed a writ of summons demanding a retraction of the prophecy, a public apology, and GH¢10 million in damages for defamation. Additionally, the chief seeks a court order to restrain Prophet Roja, the presenter, and Angel Broadcasting Network from making or broadcasting similar statements in the future. The lawsuit also requests that the media house remove all defamatory content from its platforms.
The controversy originated from a live broadcast on Kumasi-based Angel FM, during which Prophet Roja allegedly stated that the Mamponteng Palace was on the brink of disaster. He reportedly claimed the crisis would start with the chief linguist, describing it as the collapse of a vital pillar, and cautioned that the chief himself might face misfortune if preventive measures were not taken.
On the same program, moderated by Ali Baba Dankambary, Prophet Roja questioned the chief’s well-being, asking if he could sleep peacefully at night given the spiritual visions surrounding him. The prophet further predicted that before the week’s end, news would emerge of either the palace linguist’s downfall or the symbolic Onyina tree at Mamponteng, asserting that such an event would jeopardize the chief’s life.
Barimah Saasi Ayeboafo II views these statements as not only defamatory but also a direct threat to his life and the safety of those under his leadership. A spokesperson for the Mamponteng Palace emphasized that the chief is treating the issue with grave concern and is resolute in pursuing justice to safeguard himself and his community.
