Elon Musk’s Starlink to start operations in Ghana by end of August – NCA

Elon Musk’s satellite internet firm Starlink is set to formally commence operations in Ghana by end of this month, August 2024.

The permission was granted by National Communications Authority (NCA) after Starlink met all the necessary regulatory requirements.

The National Communications Authority (NCA) granted permission to Starlink after the company met all necessary regulatory requirements. In a statement, the NCA announced that Starlink has been permitted to operate after concluding negotiations for all administrative and licensing procedures.

Starlink will operate in Ghana under the name Space X Starlink GH LTD. This follows the NCA’s earlier approval of Starlink’s request to operate in the country. However, the company had to fulfill additional mandatory requirements before starting operations.

Starlink has been described as a super high-speed internet provider, set to revolutionize internet services in Ghana. While some telecom analysts caution that the services may not come cheap, the benefits are undeniable.

Equipment costs are expected to range from US$600 to US$2,500, depending on the type of service needed. Additionally, monthly costs could be between $120 and $5,000, depending on the service plan.

Starlink has already made a significant impact in other markets, and Ghana is next. With its high-speed internet services, Starlink is poised to transform the way people work, play, and connect.
