EOCO: Shatta Wale fails to prove ownership of seized Lamborghini Urus

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has disclosed that Charles Nii Armah Mensah, widely known as Shatta Wale, a prominent Ghanaian musician, has failed to provide credible evidence proving the lawful ownership or acquisition of a yellow Lamborghini Urus vehicle, which was found at his residence and seized as part of an ongoing investigation into its suspected connection to fraud.

In an official statement released by EOCO on Thursday, August 21, Shatta Wale stated that he acquired the luxury vehicle from an individual referred to as “ZAK,” who allegedly reached out to him through WhatsApp, claiming the purchase was made “on the Street.”

However, Shatta Wale admitted that he does not know the true identity of the seller and no longer has access to the WhatsApp contact used during the transaction.

EOCO’s statement further noted that the musician was unable to provide any formal documentation, such as a sales receipt or transfer papers, to substantiate his ownership of the vehicle. The only document he presented was a customs declaration form, which is registered under the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, an individual currently incarcerated.

In the meantime, supporters of Shatta Wale have gathered in large numbers at EOCO’s offices, demanding the musician’s immediate release from custody.

EOCO officials confirmed that Shatta Wale was granted bail set at GHS10 million with two sureties, following his detention over matters related to tax compliance. His release is contingent upon fulfilling all legal conditions outlined by the authorities.

Sammy Flex, whose real name is Samuel Atuobi Baah and serves as Shatta Wale’s media manager, provided an update via video, assuring fans that the musician’s legal team and management are actively working to meet the bail requirements. He emphasized that every effort is being made to secure Shatta Wale’s release promptly.
