No-Fees-Stress Policy: SLTF Opens Application Portal For Tertiary Students

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has officially launched an application portal for first-year students in public tertiary institutions across Ghana. This portal enables students to register for financial support from the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) under the government’s No-Fees-Stress policy. According to a press release issued by the SLTF on April 29, 2025, the No-Fees-Stress Portal streamlines the registration process. This allows students to easily provide their information, while the SLTF can efficiently verify their eligibility for government support.

The portal is now live and accessible at two websites: https://www.sltf.gov.gh/ and https://www.nofeesstress.sltf.gov.gh/. Dr. Saajida Shiraz, CEO of the SLTF, emphasized the significance of the No-Fee-Stress policy in a signed press release. “This policy is a transformative, bold, and visionary initiative aimed at removing financial barriers that hinder Ghanaian students from accessing tertiary education,” she stated. “It represents a strategic investment by the government in our nation’s human capital development and future competitiveness, catalyzing Ghana’s quest for accessible and inclusive higher education.”

The SLTF reaffirmed its commitment to successfully implementing this policy, aligning with its mandate to provide financial resources for students in accredited tertiary institutions. “The Students Loan Trust Fund is dedicated to the successful rollout and implementation of this policy,” the release added. This initiative underscores the government’s efforts to make tertiary education more accessible and affordable for Ghanaian students.
