PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO COMMISSIONS FOUR(4) DISTRICT HOSPITALS IN ASHANTI REGION
On Monday, 25th November 2024, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, formally inaugurated four of the five newly constructed 40-bed district hospitals in the Ashanti Region.

These facilities are located in Drobonso (Sekyere Afram Plains District), Sabronum (Ahafo Ano South East District), Twedie (Atwima Kwanwoma District), and Suame (Suame Municipality). The fifth hospital, situated in Manso Nkwanta (Amansie West District), has been completed and is awaiting commissioning.
It is worth recalling that in 2020, the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman Manu, officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 12 district hospitals across the Ashanti, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions, as well as a polyclinic in Mim, Bono Region.

The hospitals were constructed by VAMED Engineering GmbH of Austria, with other completed facilities located in Jumapo, Kwabeng, Nkwatia, Achiase, Adukrom, Mim, and Kpone Katamanso. The project was funded by a €71.5 million facility secured from Erste Group Bank AG and Česká Spořitelna.
Each hospital includes a comprehensive suite of healthcare facilities, such as outpatient departments with consulting rooms, public health units with waiting areas, antenatal consulting rooms, counseling spaces, and offices for public health officers. Additionally, the hospitals feature surgical theaters, pediatric wards, male and female wards, maternity wards, labor delivery stations, recovery rooms, and staff accommodation comprising 12 units of two-bedroom semi-detached houses.

President Akufo-Addo emphasized the need for proper management and maintenance of these facilities to ensure the sustainability of the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and improving the overall health status of citizens across the country.
