Kasoa: Prison Officer Beaten to Death in Cold Blood
A prison officer, Gideon Adu Boakye, stationed at Nsawam Prisons, was lynched at Kasoa Iron City in the Awutu Senya Municipality of the Central Region, at night when the area was experiencing a power outage. Residents reported hearing the officer being beaten by several individuals while he pleaded for his life, stating that he was a prison officer and not a thief.
Unfortunately, his pleas were ignored, and he was continuously beaten until he died. Afterwards, his body was dumped in a nearby drain. The police discovered the body on October 1, 2024, and found multiple wounds suspected to have been caused by stabbings and being struck with stones during examination.
Eric Akoto, a family member, told Asaase Radio that the deceased left home on Sunday morning, which was unusual since he didn’t return home. The family tried to reach him, but his phone was out of reach, so they went to the Ngleshie Amanfro police station to file a report. When the police showed them pictures of the retrieved body, they were shocked to discover it was their relative.
The family is now calling for a swift investigation and arrest of the perpetrators, suspecting a deliberate orchestration. The body is currently at the police hospital morgue, and a team from the prison service has visited the family, offering support and help with the investigation.
