Prison Officer Lynching in Kasoa: Six Suspects Remanded
The Ghana Prisons Service has confirmed that Lance Corporal Gideon Adu Boakye, a prison officer stationed at Nsawam Medium Security Prison, was tragically lynched at Kasoa Iron City on September 29, 2024.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Service, the prison officer was brutally lynched by a group of unknown assailants in Kasoa, where he had gone to visit his relatives with the official permission.
“The Prisons Administration is collaborating with the Police to unravel the circumstances that led to the gruesome murder of the officer,” it stated.
Adding “So far, six (6) persons made up of four (4) females and two (2) males have been arrested and arraigned before the court. The suspects have thus been remanded for further investigation into the matter.”
The Service has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the heinous act are identified, apprehended, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
“The Service wishes to caution the general public against the use of “Instance Justice” in dealing with suspects but to resort to the Police to avoid harming and killing of innocent individuals.”
“The entire Service commiserates with the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased officer and urges all officers to remain calm as steps are being taken to ensure that justice is served,” it stated.
