Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar) Announces Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie as His Running Mate.

Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent presidential candidate also known as Cheddar, has announced Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie as his running mate for the 2024 presidential elections.

The announcement was made on Friday evening via his post on X (formerly Twitter).

In the tweet, Bediako wrote: “I’m excited to share that I’ll be pursuing the presidency alongside Dr. Maryam Esaka Kriesie as my vice-presidential candidate – the ideal partner for this journey!” He added the hashtags #GhanaWillWorkAgain and #VoteNumber12.

According to a Brief provided by Bediako, Dr. Kriesie is a respected finance expert and professor who has made major contributions to Ghana’s financial sector.

She formerly worked as a Senior Manager at Ghana’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where she oversaw investments, licensed capital market operators, and helped shape rules that boosted the country’s capital markets.

Dr. Kriesie has also lectured at the University of Ghana Business School and the University of Professional Studies in Accra. She has a PhD in Finance, an MBA, and advanced certifications in Islamic finance and ERP systems.

In addition to her professional work, Dr. Kriesie is a strong supporter of women’s rights and empowerment.

As a practicing Muslim, she uses her platform to advocate equality, with a special emphasis on improving women’s economic standing in both formal and informal sectors.
