GRA Postpones Implementation of New Energy Sector Levy Adjustments Until Further Notice
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has officially postponed the implementation of the Tariff Interpretation Order (TIO) No. 2025/004, which was set to enforce the provisions of the Energy Sector Levies (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1141).
In a directive signed by the Commissioner-General, Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the authority stated that the increase in the Energy Sector Shortfall and Debt Repayment Levy (ESSDRL) on selected petroleum products, initially scheduled to take effect on June 16, 2025, has been deferred until further notice.

The decision comes after the Ministry of Finance, in consultation with key stakeholders, directed the GRA to halt the planned implementation. According to the notice, a new effective date for the enforcement of the revised levies will be communicated in due course.
This move may provide temporary relief to petroleum consumers who were expecting a price hike as a result of the new levies. The GRA has assured stakeholders that updates will be provided as developments unfold.
